Requirements

  • Ph.D degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Sciences, or a related field of study (or foreign equivalent) and 7 years of related experience required. The company will also accept a Master's degree and ten (10) years of related experience.
  • Experience in North American agrochemical and biotechnology regulatory processes and compliance; Submitting regulatory submissions to US EPA, FDA, or USDA.
  • Ability to evaluate data requirements and study triggers required for agrochemical and crop biotechnology registrations.
  • Experience in analyzing regulatory processes and changes affecting data requirements; Regulatory databases and Regulations.gov.
  • Experience in tracking competitor registration activities; Statistical techniques to compare Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
  • Project management experience and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; creation and maintenance of Microsoft Power BI dashboards.
  • Experience presenting recommendations and strategies to various levels of management via: In-person presentations, White papers, Newsletters, and Digital solutions.
  • Ability to identify and execute process improvement actions; and Working within a multi-national agrochemical company.

Responsibilities

  • Using new and creative approaches in the analysis of regulatory trend and intelligence information to identify business opportunities, provides North America specific support to global and regional business and regulatory units outside North America, and analyzes regulatory process changes and decisions from around the world and their impact on U.S. registration processes.
  • Monitoring competitor registration activities and status. Tracks, analyzes, and communicates to the research and business units any scientific, regulatory, and agricultural developments and trends that impact BASF Agricultural Solutions as well as competitor's product portfolios.
  • Coordinating with global and regional Regulatory Affairs colleagues to stay up to date on regulatory environments outside North America. Benchmarks the regulatory efficiency and effectiveness of BASF vs key competitors and recommends data-driven optimization strategies to enhance BASF’s competitive positioning.
  • Reporting of pesticide submissions and registrations as well as study submissions across the industry via Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) reports.
  • Overseeing North America strategy team meetings to review criteria used for scientific evaluations of pesticidal active ingredients (AIs) and end-use products.
  • Conducting searches in public databases such as KNOWTIFY and NPIRS and leads development of risk assessments, preparing reports on information gathered for a wide range of audiences including senior leadership. Gathers and reviews information on pesticide labels from database such as Pesticide Product and Label System (PPLS), Crop Data Management System (CDMS), and AGRIAN in order to prepare reports with summaries and highlights of mitigation requirements such as vegetative buffer strips, buffer zones for ground and aerial application, drift language, application rates, agricultural management, and suitability for integrated pest management program.
  • Comparing competitor and BASF Agricultural products to make scientific evaluations of strengths and weakness based on environmental hazard profile and potential risk for human health effects.
  • Assisting in the internal project management process by acting as the interface between the Regulatory Affairs Managers and the Project Management Office, updating expected submission and registration dates as well as submission costs in STRIVE software.
