Job Description As a valued contributor to our team, you will consult with team members and management to provide core legal counsel and services to the business, as well as utilize your legal training and experience to guide the Company's business. In this role, you will document and enforce its legal rights, and minimize its legal risks. You will have shared responsibilities for providing legal services to the Company in an area of law or legal risk, such as litigation or credit loss management. THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE The Regulatory Associate General Counsel - Principal role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and licensed in any state
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one state bar
  • Expertise in consumer law, including TILA, RESPA, FCRA, and ECOA
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with federal regulatory agencies

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree or equivalent
  • Prior experience at a regulator, mortgage lender, or other financial institution
  • Deep knowledge of housing finance and housing programs
  • Strong business acumen and excellent regulatory analytical skills specific to the mortgage industry.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert legal advice on federal and state consumer regulatory and deregulatory matters.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative, regulatory, and deregulatory developments impacting consumer law.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, comment letters, disclosures, and other legal documents.
  • Represent Fannie Mae in engagements with lenders, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Support integration of Artificial Intelligence into legal operations and business processes.
