About The Position

The Regulatory Analyst's primary responsibility will be to research, evaluate, and analyze government regulations and industry initiatives to determine actions required by these regulations and initiatives. The Regulatory Analyst then organizes this information (broken down and rewritten where necessary) to make it more understandable and accessible to Dakota's users. The Regulatory Analyst then inputs their work into Dakota's regulatory database to make the best use of the software's features and functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or related field required
  • Experience with scientific and legal or regulatory research, and technical or legal writing
  • At least two years prior, but recent, experience in an environmental compliance, occupational health, and/or occupational safety role
  • Microsoft Suite Experience
  • Familiarity with environmental and/or occupational health and safety concepts
  • Experience interpreting and communicating information from the Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and detail orientation skills
  • Strong accountability, self-motivation, achievement-orientation, and a sense of urgency to learn and drive to succeed
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to collect and organize complex data
  • Ability to follow instructions and apply lessons learned
  • Ability to process information logically
  • Skilled in time-management to meet close deadlines
  • Willingness and ability to participate in process improvement activities
  • Competent making decisions based on established guidelines, and asking for guidance in new or uncertain situations
  • Willingness to collaborate with team members

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Science or Juris Doctorate (with science or engineering undergraduate degree) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Research assigned environmental, health, and safety regulations and industry initiatives using various resources
  • Assess assigned issues, identify critical elements, and recognize necessary content updates
  • Follow established guidelines, conventions, and processes; and keep current with new and/or modified processes and product conventions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current and emerging EHS regulations, regulatory programs, and relevant industry initiatives necessary and helpful to completion of assigned work
  • Write plain English summaries of regulations, audit questions, and compliance tasks following company guidelines
  • Use various software tools to collaborate with team members and incorporate your individual work into the team's collective work product
  • Prepare materials needed for your work to enter the peer review process and respond appropriately to the results of that review to ensure quality work product
  • Participate in database update release testing according to test plan assignments
  • Support process improvement initiatives
  • Participate in daily stand-ups and other team meetings
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or required commensurate with experience and skills
