Job Summary: The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will be responsible for managing the regulatory compliance aspects of the assigned operation in order to meet both governmental as well as customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree, BA or higher degree in Chemistry or other lab science, OR 5 years of laboratory experience in the coatings industry
  • Good computer skills including a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Independent research and project management capabilities.
  • Have good verbal and written English communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Understand and use Hempel Company’s ISO 9001 Quality System.
  • Coordinate with Administration, Production, Sales Management Advertising and Information Systems to maintain conformity with federal, state and local regulations specific to: Product compliance (VOC for local, state and federal) Hazard communications (including in-lab) Labelling
  • Understand TSCA Regulatory Compliance and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) New Substance Notification requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining chemical/substance regulatory compliance in USA, Canada, Mexico, and South America
  • Manage substance/product registration and compliance for new product development activities, including country-specific substance notifications. (i.e. US TSCA PMNs, LVEs, CEPA NSNs).
  • Coordinate with R&D, Local HSE-Operations, Commercial teams to maintain conformity with federal, state, and local regulations specific to: Product compliance (VOC/HAP for local, state, and federal) FDA Title 21 Hazard communications (including in-lab) Labelling
  • Proactively Monitor and interpret (existing and developing) chemical/substance regulations and assess impact on business to provide proactive and timely advice/guidance.
  • Compile and prepare all necessary information/documentation for the development of a new or optimized product or import of new product to the region and sign off Regulatory Screening forms.
  • Collaborate with the Global Regulatory team to monitor, develop, and update product literature to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Represent Hempel Americas in industry associations and consortia technical / regulatory committees, as needed.
  • Lead and manage customer regulatory requests for the Americas region, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
