About The Position

Protects the safety and well-being of patrons utilizing the aquatics facility. Enforces facility rules and regulations. Assists in supervising, hiring, training, and scheduling part-time/seasonal Lifeguard staff. May require working various hours, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Current CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications required.
  • High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience as a Lifeguard preferred.
  • Additional certifications in aquatics instruction, water safety, or pool operations.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in an aquatic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all Lifeguard duties, ensuring swimmers are supervised in the pool and deck areas; monitors activities; prevents accidents; and minimizes or eliminates hazards.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment until emergency medical services arrive; applies first aid and performs water rescues as necessary.
  • Assists in supervising, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating part-time/seasonal Lifeguard staff.
  • Assists in planning, implementing, and enforcing lifeguard staff rotations and schedules to ensure adequate coverage during operating hours and facility rentals.
  • Recommends and enforces all safety rules and regulations for the aquatics facility.
  • Performs administrative tasks necessary for successful aquatics program operations.
  • Assists with pool operation and maintenance; maintains safety and sanitation standards in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; conducts water tests and adds pool chemicals as directed.
  • Assists with the distribution, control, and requisition of aquatics equipment and supplies; recommends purchases as needed.
  • Supports other areas within the Community Activity Center by assisting with special events, recreational programs, facility rentals, and coverage needs in the absence of staff.
  • Prepares and submits reports, including rescues, assists, accidents, and first aid incidents, to the Supervisor.
  • Attends mandatory training and in-service meetings.
  • Informs Supervisor of all work-related activities.
  • Adheres to personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists other coworkers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
