About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistical Science is seeking to hire a new tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level at the Moscow campus. We are looking for an applied mathematician with a strong background in analysis who can teach undergraduate and graduate courses on topics such as differential equations, complex analysis, measure theory, probability, or stochastic processes. The faculty member should have a strong potential for collaborating in current and future research initiatives at the University of Idaho such as the COBRE in Nutrition and Women's Health, drug discovery, and water resources.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics (typically two three/four-credit courses per semester) to support mathematics education at the university and the BS, MS, and PhD programs in mathematics and mentoring and advising students.
  • Scholarship duties include conducting research in applied mathematics, disseminating research through publications in refereed professional journals, and seeking external funding to support research activities.
  • Service duties include serving on department and university committees and participating in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Outreach duties include participating in activities related to community involvement and serving in the professional community through reviewing manuscripts and proposals and conducting workshops.
