This position involves operating and maintaining a forklift to supply production operations with raw materials, transfer finished products to storage, and load them onto trucks to meet customer delivery requirements. Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Forklift certification that meets OSHA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains forklift in a safe and efficient manner using work instructions, visual management and computer interface.
  • Supplies production operations with raw materials to produce finished product.
  • Prints and scans Bill of Lading for all finished goods using computer interface and RF scanner.
  • Inspects finished goods for quality defects.
  • Transfers finished goods to staging or storage areas.
  • Loads finished goods onto trucks in a timely manner to meet customers delivery requirements.
  • Accurately completes all written logs and data input to include closing sequences on tickets and printing Bill of Lading.
  • Ensures accurate inventory counts and notifies lead/supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
  • Removes/Reworks any damaged product on pallets.
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.
  • Follow all HACCP, GMP and Product Safety rules and guidelines.
  • Train current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
  • Learn new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.
