About The Position

This position performs general registration duties, including interviewing patients or their representatives, accurately entering information into forms and computer systems, collecting co-payments, and obtaining signatures. The role may also involve escorting patients to their destinations. A key responsibility is maintaining scheduling for the department and/or specialized procedures, coordinating services with physicians' offices and other related departments, and verifying room and equipment availability as needed. The individual is expected to build confidence and cooperation with patients, their families/support groups, and other healthcare providers through competent job performance and effective communication.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology including a variety of diagnostic tests, surgeries, consultations and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to communicate with fellow team members, supervisors, patients, and other hospital personnel.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s PHI.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Responsibilities
