Provides Mobile Mammography Services throughout multiple counties in Western NY. Responsible for various duties, such as driving to assigned location, greeting patients to collect required registration data, performing check-in and checkout procedures, verifying insurance, and communicating patient financial assistance needs.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or customer service setting required Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills required
  • Friendly positive disposition required
  • CDL - Group A - Commercial Drivers License upon hire required or CDL - Group B - Commercial Drivers License upon hire required or CDL - Group C - Commercial Drivers License upon hire required

Responsibilities

  • Drives the mobile mammography coach in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Ensures the mobile mammography coach is adequately fueled and mechanically sound, completing pre- and post-inspections before and after each use.
  • Obtains routine maintenance of the mobile mammography coach as required for fuel, oil change, cleaning, and tire pressure.
  • Cleans inside of mobile mammography coach daily and stocks required supplies as needed.
  • Flexibility and transportation to other locations and hours of operation may be required.
  • Confirms or collects patient demographics and financial information to ensure a billable account.
  • Stores patients in billing and scheduling systems.
  • Identifies dual patient identification processes using University and departmental policies.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility/coverage and obtains necessary pre-certifications/authorizations when applicable.
  • Identifies and corrects registration errors, complete missing registration data.
  • Sets up new patient records accurately in information management systems.
  • Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.
  • Greets patients and/or their representatives and provides direction as needed.
  • Interviews the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completes the registration process as defined by departmental policy.
  • Remains visible and accessible to patients.
  • Keeps patients informed of schedule progress and delays.
  • Acts as information resource for patients.
  • Schedules/reschedules/cancels visits for walk-in and return visits to imaging using scheduling systems.
  • Schedules outside studies into hospital and imaging information systems.
  • Monitors exam schedules and reports problems or concerns to area supervisor(s).
  • Coordinates patient transportation and interpreter services as needed.
  • Communicates with HIM to obtain accurate patient information.
  • Corrects errors in patient study association and patient identification errors.
  • Reconciles patient data when multiple accounts exist to combine records.
  • Scans visit documentation and stores in information system(s).
  • Transfers outside studies to PACS or archiving/Image sharing applications.
  • Administers health history paperwork to patients.
  • Administers ambulatory patient surveys.
  • Treats patients and colleagues with courtesy and respect.
  • Understands and meets the needs of internal customers.
  • Identifies areas of improvement, notifies supervisor(s) and departmental management.
  • Identifies patient needs and services provided.
  • Assess patient special needs.
  • Monitors reception area to ensure patient comfort.
  • Makes decisions to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Communicates with external customers such as, but not limited to, payers, physician offices, and other departments.
  • Provides training to new clerical staff in all aspects of department specific work practices including orientation, registration, charge entry, scheduling, reception, image management and customer service.
  • Acts as information resource for department clinical staff in regards to all aspects reception/scheduling/registration functions and responsibilities.
  • Attends educational programs and teach newly hired or less experienced staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
