The Registrar is responsible for the reception of patients, families, and healthcare providers to the unit. This role facilitates and implements multiple communication activities (oral, written, and computerized) between healthcare providers, patients, families, and visitors. The Registrar also initiates and maintains patient and unit records and ensures the upkeep of the workstation and related materials.

Requirements

  • Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Experience Required: Minimum of 1 year of experience
  • Skills Strong computer proficiency
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong communication and telephone skills
  • Certifications Required: AHA Heartsaver
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • May require occasional stooping, climbing, or lifting light materials (up to 10 lbs.)
  • Comfortable indoor setting
  • Category 3: No exposure to blood, body fluids, or other infectious materials

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Business school or college coursework
  • Preferred: Experience with medical terminology; bilingual skills

Responsibilities

  • Greet and register patients, families, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
  • Facilitate communication between healthcare providers, patients, and families
  • Maintain accurate patient and unit records
  • Manage and organize workstation materials and supplies
  • Answer and direct phone calls; respond to inquiries appropriately
  • Coordinate and support unit-based administrative functions
  • Maintain tracking logs and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items
  • Act as a liaison between departments and external partners when needed
  • Schedule, coordinate, and document meetings and related activities
  • Ensure compliance with organizational standards and procedures
  • Maintain punctuality, attendance, and adaptability to changing work assignments
