About The Position

Obtains medical information from patients and update or verify information into Radiology Information System. Serves as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. Hours Mon-Thursday 3:00pm-9:30pm Saturdays 6am-12pm. Days off Sun/Friday. Supervision None Typical Physical Demands Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens and to work in an environment which can be very stressful. Typical Working Conditions Work is performed in a normal office environment. Work may be stressful at times due to phone call load, other assignments, and angry phone calls.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of billing office and procedures and knowledge of radiology exams in order to provide information to patients, physicians, vendors and other staff members.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
  • Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prefer one year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
  • General office knowledge preferably in a medical office setting
  • Computer experience
  • Multi-line phone experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Checks in patients by obtaining, verifying and updating necessary information in the Radiology Information System.
  • Receive and log payments for self pay patients.
  • Assists in clinic opening process.
  • Cross trained and serves as “back-up” for greeter and scheduler.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality
  • Performs related work as required and other duties as assigned. Position may include extended hours and Saturdays.
