The Registrar is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration. Interviews patients for all pertinent account information and verifies insurance coverage. Requirements

  • High School or GED equivalent preferred .
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members .
  • Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care .
  • Strong critical thinking skills .
  • Ability to communicate with patients using auditory Input and Output.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of related experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and others as required
  • Previous use of medical terminology strongly desired

Responsibilities

  • You will welcome patients and family members in a professional manner.
  • You will be scheduling, registration and interview patients to obtain all accurate and necessary account information to include identification and insurance cards, financial responsibility, medical and educational needs, visit history, signatures necessary for treatments, release of medical information, assignment of insurance benefits and payment of services from legally responsible parties.
  • You will explain policies regarding services, charges, insurance billing, and payment of your account.
  • You will collect full or partial payment for services rendered according to collection policy for co-pays, deposits, deductibles and documents collections status in the system and chart.
  • You will issue waivers for signatures appropriate.
  • You will call, verify and obtain all insurance pre-certifications or authorizations, enter all information and authorization numbers in patient chart.
  • You will process patient charts according to paperwork flow needs and established productivity standards.
  • You will work with nursing staff for emergency medical needs, answering patient and visitor questions.
  • You will prepare daily deposits and maintain the integrity of the cash drawer.
  • You will produce paperwork on each patient for distribution to appropriate departments, home health care, nursing facilities, and physician offices.
  • You will route admission documents and forms to appropriate departments.
