About The Position

Position Summary To support the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department. Serves as a point of contact for patients, referring physician offices and insurance providers. Responsible for providing a variety of services such as: pre-registration, registration, scheduling, file management including the EMR, insurance and authorization processing, patient/department support, materials/inventory management, education/development and unit-specific tasks. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of formal business/medical training preferred. Completion of BA training program required. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification preferred. Completion of Registration training pr Experience At least 3 to 6 months of experience as a Business Assistant or equivalent experience. Computer Experience –knowledge of Windows environment. Previous customer service experience required. Medical office experience required. Schedule: Shifts as needed; Monday-Thursday alternating 7-3:30 and 11-7:30; Fridays alternating weekly 7-3:30 or 9-5:30; Seasonal Saturdays. Candidate must be willing to go to 4 OP Rehab locations as needed Skills Customer service oriented. Effective communication in accordance with Valley's SERVE and CARE standards, ability to articulate and use proper spelling and grammar. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Ability to work cooperatively with health system, patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members. Ability to interact with patients in stressful situations and changing work environments related to changing patient needs Effective organizational and critical thinking skills, (e.g., analytical, problem-solving, decision making, prioritizing, time management, etc.) in order to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to changing situations Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to changes in workload, and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to patients' needs. Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills required (ie. Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.). Completion of orientation/training as required.
