The position involves performing registration in computerized systems with a high level of computer experience. Responsibilities include pre-registration, entering date-of-service upon patient arrival, and arriving patients in the EMR. The role requires obtaining current demographic and insurance information at each patient encounter and verifying that information is correctly entered into all systems. Additionally, the position involves obtaining payment from patients per Norton Healthcare collection policy, sending missed appointment letters, and securing referrals to PCP or specialists as needed. The individual will also schedule patient appointments in an electronic scheduling system, schedule diagnostic tests and consults, and secure precerts/authorizations for diagnostic tests and admissions/transfers. The role includes answering incoming telephone calls, prioritizing and routing them appropriately, taking complete telephone messages, and providing exceptional customer service during telephone interactions. Coordination of incoming and outgoing correspondence, filing appropriately in patient charts, and assisting with chart preparation are also part of the responsibilities.
