The Registrar at Norton Cancer Institute is responsible for performing registration in computerized systems, ensuring a high level of computer experience. The role involves pre-registration, entering date-of-service upon patient arrival, and arriving patients in the EMR. The Registrar will obtain current demographic and insurance information at each patient encounter, verify that information is correctly entered into all systems, and obtain payment from patients per Norton Healthcare collection policy. Additional responsibilities include sending missed appointment letters to patients, securing referrals to PCP or specialists if needed, scheduling patient appointments in the electronic scheduling system, scheduling diagnostic tests and consults, and securing precerts/authorizations for diagnostic tests and admissions/transfers. The Registrar will also answer incoming telephone calls, prioritize and route them appropriately, take complete telephone messages, and provide exceptional customer service during telephone interactions. Coordination of incoming and outgoing correspondence and filing appropriately in patient charts are also part of the job. The Registrar assists with chart preparation as needed.
