The position involves interviewing and accurately collecting patient information and demographics for various hospital services, ensuring compliance with patient access scorecard standards. The role requires verifying, reviewing, and coordinating benefits on behalf of patients, managing payments at the point-of-service, and assisting patients with financial clearance of accounts. Additionally, the position includes managing accounts to meet productivity standards, identifying high-risk admissions, and providing training to new staff. The individual will also be responsible for maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and complying with healthcare regulations.

  • Interview and accurately collect patient information and demographics for various hospital services.
  • Verify, review, and coordinate benefits on behalf of patients.
  • Manage payments at point-of-service, conduct cash receipting, and post payments.
  • Assist patients with financial clearance of accounts by communicating financial responsibility.
  • Manage accounts to meet Patient Access Scorecard standards of productivity.
  • Identify high-risk admissions/registrations and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Assist with training of new staff and provide assistive training with teammates.
  • Manage scanning for the patient medical record as required.
  • Provide courteous service to all stakeholders by resolving problems and responding to inquiries.
  • Comply with governmental regulations in reference to healthcare and billing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of ICD coding requirements and other billing rules.
  • Promote continuous process and quality improvement processes.
  • Actively participate in service recovery and customer service activities.
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in hospital, Emergency Room, or Medical Office Registration with extensive working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Associate degree in Health Information Technology or another health care field.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic.
  • Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or other recognized revenue cycle professional within 24 months of employment.
