About The Position

Position Summary To support the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department. Serves as a point of contact for patients, referring physician offices and insurance providers. Responsible for providing a variety of services such as: pre-registration, registration, scheduling, file management including the EMR, insurance and authorization processing, patient/department support, materials/inventory management, education/development and unit-specific tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 3 to 6 months of experience as a Business Assistant or equivalent experience.
  • Computer Experience – knowledge of Windows environment.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Medical office experience required.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Effective communication in accordance with Valley's SERVE and CARE standards, ability to articulate and use proper spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Ability to work cooperatively with health system, patients, family members, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to interact with patients in stressful situations and changing work environments related to changing patient needs
  • Effective organizational and critical thinking skills, (e.g., analytical, problem-solving, decision making, prioritizing, time management, etc.) in order to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to changing situations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, adapt to changes in workload, and work schedule.
  • Ability to set priorities, make effective decisions, and respond quickly to patients' needs.
  • Ability to pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills required (ie. Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.).
  • Completion of orientation/training as required.

  • Completion of formal business/medical training preferred.
  • Completion of BA training program required.
  • Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification preferred.
