About the position

The Registrar performs accurate front desk workflows in the physician practice setting, including patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling and check-in/check-out, while maintaining a high level of professional customer service. This role involves registering all patients in a timely manner who have not been pre-registered, maintaining current knowledge of all insurance cards and billing necessities, collecting copays, and performing pre-registration as needed before the patient arrives. The Registrar ensures required patient forms are current, fills out and advises patients on how to complete forms, and schedules all patients who need a physical exam or appointment. Additionally, the Registrar demonstrates standards of excellence in care in all interactions, conducts appointment reminder confirmation calls, and triages phone messages to appropriate departments. The role also includes performing office administrative duties, maintaining office supplies, managing various work queues in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and accurately balancing the cash drawer and petty cash while completing end of day finance procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate front desk workflows including patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, and check-in/check-out.
  • Register all patients in a timely manner who have not been pre-registered.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all insurance cards and billing necessities.
  • Collect copays and attempt to collect any outstanding debt to facility/practice.
  • Perform pre-registration as needed before the patient arrives.
  • Ensure required patient forms are current and advise patients on how to complete forms.
  • Schedule all patients who need a physical exam/appointment.
  • Conduct appointment reminder confirmation calls and triage phone messages to appropriate departments.
  • Perform office administrative duties and maintain office supplies for sufficient inventory.
  • Keep work area clean, neat, organized, professional, and presentable.
  • Manage various work queues in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Manage the front office patient flow by collaborating with other staff and providers.
  • Accurately balance the cash drawer and petty cash and complete end of day finance procedures.
