About The Position

Alta Rancho Pet Hospital is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The hospital, proudly serving the community since 1975, is staffed with passionate animal lovers dedicated to providing high-quality care. Led by Dr. Kathy Henderson for the last 25 years, the hospital emphasizes longevity and a positive team environment. The role involves working with small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners, providing comprehensive nursing care, and utilizing various diagnostic and surgical skills. The position is full-time with 5/8-hour shifts and some Saturday coverage.

Requirements

  • 3 + years of veterinary clinical experience, as a veterinary technician or assistant
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in California, or eligible to transfer/acquire state license within 3 months of hire
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
  • Passion for working with small animals, birds, exotics, and their owners
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint for a variety of species
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
  • Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Dental procedure experience, scaling, polishing, radiographs, extractions, suturing required
  • Skilled in IV Catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing care in a hospital or outdoor setting
  • Perform dental procedures including scaling, polishing, radiographs, extractions, suturing
  • Perform IV Catheter placement
  • Perform urinary catheter placement
  • Apply casts, bandages and splints
  • Perform anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Perform laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation
  • Perform diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis
  • Perform all other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law
