About The Position
San Diego Humane Society is hiring Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) for our San Diego Medical team! How you’ll impact our mission: At San Diego Humane Society, we’re united by our mission to Inspire Compassion. In 2015, animal welfare organizations in our region achieved zero euthanasia of healthy and treatable shelter pets — a commitment we have met for the past nine consecutive years. As an RVT, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our “Staying at Zero” strategic initiatives and providing high-quality care and assistance to veterinarians in diagnosing, treating, and managing animal patients. Your technical expertise, combined with your passion for animals and people, will help us provide the highest level of care. This role delivers service at the gold standard level in alignment with the SDHS Way, to meet the needs of animals and the people who love them by leading with compassion, finding creative solutions, providing personalized care and building connections. Requirements
- California Registered Veterinary Technician licensure required.
- Minimum of one (1) year clinical and/or shelter experience in veterinary environment required.
Responsibilities
- Administer treatments and procedures & prepare and administer anesthetics
- Assist staff veterinarians with exams, procedures and monitoring animals before, during and post-surgery
- Perform emergency procedures (within the scope of a licensed RVT) as instructed by staff veterinarian
- Support training of new RVTs and Vet Assistants, as well as animal services staff members, volunteers, and interns
