About The Position

Gateway Animal Hospital was proudly founded in 1965 to provide quality care to your exceptional community. Our establishment offers preventive care, wellness exams, internal medicine, pet surgery, radiology consults, as well as dental surgery. In addition to customary services, Gateway Animal Hospital is expanding our practice range to home visits and farm calls, ensuring our commitment to providing compassionate pet care, everywhere. We look forward to growing our traditional and integrative veterinary medicine and services with new and exciting endeavors to exceed the expectations of our clients and their furry friends. Our hours of operation are: Mon-Fri: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Sat: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays.

Requirements

  • Registered veterinary technician
  • 1+ years experience preferred but not required
  • High work ethic and positive attitude team member
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work
  • Saturday availability
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely
  • Ability to interpret medical records and record client history accurately
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • Proficient in anesthesia and surgical monitoring
  • Self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management
