About The Position

Skylos Sports Medicine, a BluePearl Partner, is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team Monday-Thursday in Ellicott City, MD. Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 4x10 hour shifts This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. As a Skylos Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will: Use your knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs. Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions. IV catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance. Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal. Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s. Continuous expansion of advanced anesthetic skills, including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management. Operate and monitor intravenous fluid pumps. Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery) Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc. Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
