About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT) to join our dedicated team at Ark Animal Clinic in Hedgesville, WV. As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional service. Your expertise, attention to detail, and passion for animal welfare will contribute to the overall success of our clinic/hospital. Ark Animal Clinic is a full-service small animal hospital in Hedgesville, WV. We believe healthy pets make people happy, and we strive to provide high-quality veterinary care for cats and dogs in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Our diagnostic equipment includes an in-house laboratory, new digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and ultrasound . Most importantly, we have phenomenal , experienced support staff who are crucial to the success of patient and client care. Our doctors perform a variety of soft tissue surgeries and dentistry. Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT), with a valid license in West Virginia.
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective client communication and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care and Medical Support: Assist veterinarians with patient examinations, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Perform various laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging.
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures.
  • Nursing and Rehabilitation: Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients, including wound management, IV catheterization, and fluid therapy.
  • Educate pet owners on post-operative care, medication administration, and disease management.
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment: Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, such as radiography and ultrasound machines.
  • Assist with setting up and operating equipment for specialized procedures.
  • Client Interaction and Education: Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, providing updates on patient status, and addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, and proper handling techniques.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories.
  • Ensure timely and complete documentation in accordance with veterinary standards.
  • Controlled drug record keeping
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to veterinary assistants and other team members.
