About The Position

As a Veterinary Technician in the Cardiology department, you will be responsible for a variety of technical skills and anesthesia knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and as part of a team. Your duties will include venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication calculations and administration, digital radiography, patient prep and recovery, epidural administration, and anesthesia/sedation monitoring for cardiac diagnostics or interventional procedures. You will work closely with the internal medicine team, assist doctors during patient appointments, and provide outstanding client communication and education. Advocating for the patient and providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients is essential. You will also assist with advanced cardiac diagnostics such as echocardiograms, electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), thoracic radiographs, and Holter monitor placement and instruction for home use. Collaboration with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care is a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • General understanding and experience with small animal restraint, focusing on cats and dogs.
  • High school diploma.
  • Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task various duties and responsibilities.
  • Understanding of established hospital processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, focusing on cardiology.
  • Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California.

Responsibilities
