About The Position

Under limited supervision, responsible for performing a variety of noninvasive tests on adult and pediatric patients to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of Vascular Disease, as ordered by a physician. May lead or mentor lower level team members. Responsibilities Performs advanced vascular exams on patients using Doppler ultrasound equipment. Exams include arterial and venous studies of upper and lower extremities. Requests and gathers patient information to aide in the diagnosis of the patient. Maintains database of patient information. Reviews orders and explains studies to patients, discusses studies with referring physicians or ordering physicians. Writes protocols for diagnostic testing. Responsible for quarterly reviews of protocols, policies and procedures and updates protocols according to the IAC standards yearly. Prepares data and writes reports to assist faculty in research protocols where ultrasound is utilized. Responsible for the accreditation of the Vascular Lab by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) vascular testing. Attends staff meetings, IAC meetings, Quality Monthly meetings and vascular grand rounds as required. Maintains records and evaluations for continuing education. Assists with staff scheduling, performs equipment maintenance and follow up on repairs. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of hemodynamics relative to vascular arterial disease, and knowledge of standards for International Accreditation Commission in Vascular Testing (IAC).
  • Ability to perform portable studies in any setting as ordered by physicians.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with proficiency in Microsoft word/data entry in EMR’s.
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently, with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Required certifications must remain current and valid.
  • Associates degree and completion of a formal vascular technology training program or two (2) years in an allied health care training program is required.
  • Certified as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or (RVS) by testing agencies recognized IAC required.
