The Registered Ultrasound Technologist performs a variety of ultrasound procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative from the Registered Ultrasound Technologist. Essential Job Functions: Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams as ordered by providers in accordance with organization protocols.Uses the appropriate transducer on the body part presented for exam to obtain quality diagnostic images.Ensures that all transducers are properly disinfected as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Properly identifies patient by asking name, date of birth, reason for visit. Ensures that the correct patient / body part is scanned. Ensures that the correct patient information is entered into the various computer programs that record the procedure. Completes the exam on the Radiology Software System provided and transmits the exam to the Radiologist for reading. Provides a work environment safe and free from hazards; immediately address or inform management of safety issues or potential hazards; adhere to Health and Safety Policies and Procedures; participate in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team.Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this positionDemonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.Utilizes the PACS work list to expedite the ultrasound procedure. Explains the procedure to the patient and answers patient’s questions. Maintains exceptional level of customer service; address and resolve complaints; serve as an example by providing excellent service to internal and external customers, employees, and patients. Demonstrates and models El Rio Health Standards in all interactions with patients, co-workers, and visitors. Demonstrates service excellence using AIDET principles consistently applied with all patients, community members, co-workers, and colleagues. Annually reviews job description and performance goals with Radiology Manager. Embraces and promotes a professional working environment based on understanding and respect for diversity and multi-culturalism in all its forms; demonstrate sensitivity, acknowledge varied beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and customs, and encourage communication and appreciation of all forms of diversity. Educates patients, providers, and staff on the Ultrasound procedures performed at El Rio HealthCompletes work on timeEnsures that ultrasound order is correct with the appropriate CPT codes and ICD-10 codes for billing.Maintains professional licensure through ARDMS as required. Continues to learn new software versions as they are available from the various radiology vendors.Contributes to team effort; and complies with all facility policies and procedures including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Compliance.
