Overview Performs ultrasound imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines. Prepares and transports patients as necessary. Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images, as need for interpretation Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS Maintains Quality Control on Equipment as Instructed. Special Instructions Diagnostic Ultrasound Technologist Responsibilities 1. Performs such exams as abdominal echoes, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts. Color flow studies, doppler studies, renal biopsies and fluid collections of localized areas. 2. Checks all images with the radiologist; consults with the radiologist about the reading of scans and reports. 3. Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations. 4. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes. 5. Marks images for proper definition and explanation. 6. Available for on call status, as needed. 7. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards. 8. Follows the hospital exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens. 9. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. 10. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
