About The Position

A registered respiratory therapist assesses and treats patients with breathing disorders, such as but not limited to asthma, emphysema, and pneumonia. They administer respiratory treatments, conduct diagnostic test, and educate patients on breathing techniques and equipment use. Additionally, they collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical diploma in Respiratory Therapy is required. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.
  • Graduate for an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current license with the Arkansas State Medical Board and Registered through the Nation Board of Respiratory Care RRT credential required
  • Regulatory Requirements: BLS required upon hire or before patient care, ACLS required within 6 months of hire, PALS/NRP preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including but not limited to, physicians, nurses, and other respiratory therapists
  • Must be self motivated, have the ability to work independently, maintain a high level of accuracy, and have the ability to handle confidential material
  • 2+ years hospital experience preferred
  • 1+ years of respiratory therapy experience preferred
  • Experience in critical care and/ or neonatal care areas preferred
  • Proficiency in various respiratory therapy techniques preferred
  • Experience in an acute care setting preferred
