CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking a Per Diem Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its team. Under medical supervision, this role is responsible for evaluating, treating, and managing acutely ill patients of all ages who present with abnormalities, deficiencies, or failure of the cardio-pulmonary system. The Respiratory Care Practitioner will complete an extensive initial department orientation and must demonstrate competency in all areas of respiratory care before working independently. Continued professional development is supported through annual Skills Day evaluations and performance competency assessments conducted with a supervisor. In addition, certain procedures such as arterial blood gas collection and intubation require specialized orientation and annual review under supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA approved training program in Respiratory Therapy.
  • NJ State License required.
  • Registration by the NBRC required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • ACLS and PALS Certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and evaluates arterial puncture and analysis.
  • Performs patient assessment and recommends appropriate interventions.
  • Performs proper documentation to include, but not limited to, acuity, charges, productivity, patient education, etc.
  • Performs appropriate routine oxygen and therapeutic and diagnostic interventions.
  • Performs appropriate invasive and non-invasive ventilation interventions.
  • Performs appropriately in all code and patient crisis interventions.
  • Performs appropriately in all pediatric and neonatal interventions.
  • Maintains conservative use of all organizational resources.
  • Performs draw and analysis of ABG.
  • Performs intubation if certified to do so.
