The Registered Respiratory Therapist is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team. The R.R.T. utilize his/her knowledge, judgement and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate respiratory care for patients under his/her clinical practice. The Registered Respiratory Therapist shall provide therapy that may include application and monitoring of medical gases, mechanical ventilator support, artificial airway placement and care, broncho pulmonary hygiene, pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation related and limited to respiratory care. There may be required on-call coverage (i.e. additional job responsibility can include, sleep study testing, E.E.G.s, E,K.G.s, P.F.T.s and ABGs) during hours that are not staffed by R.T. department.
