This role is to float throughout the system for all RRT needs in the Puget Sound Area. Hospitals that are included will be Auburn Medical Center, Covington Medical Center, Good Samaritan Hospital, Tacoma General Hospital, Allenmore Hospital and Capital Medical Center. The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of skilled respiratory care modalities and interventions to designated patient populations with cardiopulmonary system deficiencies and abnormalities, which requires the use of advanced practitioner skills to intervene in complex patient care situations. This position requires specialized training and experience to perform independent, professional respiratory care, ventilator management, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and clinical evaluation of care, including the establishment of therapy and treatment objectives, and the review of care based on the age and needs of the patient. This position operates independently, under limited supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Training program.
  • Registered (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the State of Washington.
  • Registry eligibility notice to sit for RRT exam from NBRC required.
  • Advanced cardiac life support credential required within 90 days of hire.
  • Health Care Provider level CPR certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year of acute care experience in the field of respiratory therapy and critical care as CRT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Registered Nurse or Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) in providing a variety of patient cares/treatments as directed within their scope of practice.
  • Perform direct patient care activities independently in accordance with MHS policies and procedures within the WAC RCP scope of practice.
  • Assist providers with procedures.
  • Rooming of patients in ED to include Vital signs and documentation.
  • Perform EKG, IV starts, and lab draws at request of provider/RN staff.
  • Conduct phlebotomy at request of provider/RN staff.
  • Provide patient and family education as requested.
