About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist - Seasonal PRN at Medical City Lewisville is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. This role involves performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitoring patients receiving mechanical ventilation, and ensuring airway integrity during resuscitation. The program runs from September 21, 2025, to April 4, 2026, and requires a minimum of 72 hours of work per pay period, including weekend and holiday shifts. Seasonal staff are PRN employees and are not guaranteed hours or eligible for extra shift bonuses.

Requirements

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Must hold a (RRT/RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/Practitioner certification.
  • Must hold (NBRC-RRT) Registered Respiratory Therapist certification, or (RRT-NPS) Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty certification, or have a Certificate or Associate Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways.
  • Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider as appropriate.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
  • Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity during resuscitation.
