About The Position

The position is for a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Advocate Health Medical Center, specifically within the Respiratory Therapy Services department. The role is full-time, requiring 36 hours per week, with a schedule from 7 AM to 7 PM. The therapist will demonstrate knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery, conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures, and perform diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy. Responsibilities include initiating and monitoring mechanical ventilators, evaluating current therapies, documenting therapy results, and communicating with healthcare team members. The therapist will also conduct respiratory care techniques in emergency settings and perform blood sampling analysis. The role requires proficiency in electronic medical records and adherence to departmental safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards.
• 2 years critical care experience required for free-standing Emergency Department and Virtual Critical Care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each.
• Conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators.
• Independently evaluates current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols.
• Documents therapy and results as required by hospital, department, and regulatory agencies.
• Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Initiates, conducts, and modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.
• Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis.
• Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care.
• Completes all regulatory requirements and annual proficiency evaluations.
