As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the Emergency Department (ED), you will support a diverse patient population, with many managing chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms. In this role, combining your skills with a compassionate attitude and outlook can make a difference in the lives of patients and their families. All the while, you will gain extensive hands-on experience, enhance your skills and explore the numerous professional development resources offered by Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
  • Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Assocation (AHA)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) depending on department

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in critical care
  • Neonatal/pediatric experience when appropriate for site
  • Experience performing invasive procedures preferred when appropriate for site
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
  • Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications/treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
  • Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
