About The Position

New grads, welcome to apply! Will be oriented to work all critical care areas, including PMCH, the adult and pediatric EDs, and floor therapy. Trauma 1, Indianapolis Campus. As our Respiratory Therapist, you will work on the front lines in providing care to our patients who may be having difficulty breathing.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • RRT (CRT at a minimum due to the current climate) preferred.
  • As our Respiratory Therapist, you will help patients who may be having difficulty breathing. Our RTs work on the front lines in emergency departments, intensive care units, and other hospital units to assist patients who may be having difficulty breathing. Must be willing to work in different units.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.
