About The Position

As a Resource Pool Respiratory Therapist at Ascension St Vincent, you will have the opportunity to choose to work at multiple sites in the Indianapolis area, including our 86th Level I trauma center, Seton Specialty, Heart Center, Women's, NICU, and PMCH. Commitment level and shift determine the rate.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Must have two years of experience

Nice To Haves

  • Resource RT for 86th Adults, Seton, PMCH, and Women's
  • Two years of critical care experience strongly preferred.
  • RRT preferred
  • PALS, NRP, ACLS within 3 months of hire date

Responsibilities

  • Provide evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
  • Assess patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plan and equipment. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition. Perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate the patient and family about the health condition and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Respond to emergency resuscitation team code.
