About The Position

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Trinity Health Oakland Hospital, you will provide individualized respiratory care for patients across the entire age continuum. Your role will involve facilitating improvements in the overall quality of patient care through a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating with the healthcare team to coordinate services for all patients. You will also participate in the orientation of staff and student training programs, representing the Respiratory Care department as a teaching institution.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Registered as Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Current licensure to practice in the State of Michigan as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Practitioner (NRP) and Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
• Previous work experience as a Respiratory Therapist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized respiratory care for the entire age continuum.
• Assist with facilitating improvement in the overall quality of patient care.
• Utilize a multidisciplinary approach and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Participate in orientation of staff and student training programs.
• Demonstrate technical and clinical competence in adult critical care.
• Apply patient care protocols and utilize assessment information to revise care plans.
• Communicate with healthcare providers and other customers to coordinate services.
• Act as a resource to physicians, nurses, and other team members.
• Ensure appropriate documentation and charges are entered for patient encounters.
• Assist with tracking and monitoring of equipment and requests for maintenance.
• Participate in ongoing education and maintain skills/competency.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
• Report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
