It’s the way you want to be treated. Summary of Job Responsibilities: Assess, monitor, treat, and care for neonatal patients requiring respiratory interventions. Provides advanced airway management, may include intubation. Assume primary responsibility (select, assemble, monitor and manage) for respiratory care modalities including invasive and non-invasive ventilation, bubble cpap, and high frequency oscillator and jet ventilation. Medication administration via nebulizer and intratracheally (surfactant administration) and medical gases (Nitric Oxide) Initiate and conduct therapeutic treatments/procedures such as aerosol therapy, airway clearance, and secretion mobilization. Attends and is an active team member for high-risk deliveries and neonatal rapid response codes, Blood gas acquisition and analysis Communicates with the care team by making recommendations based on patient's lung compliance, response to therapy, and laboratory/xray results; recommendations include initiation, escalation, de-escalation, and discontinuation Documents work efficiently and accurately in the patient medical record and department records and assures all patient billing is complete. Provide clinical precepting of new team members or students, as needed. Communicate with patient’s families, providing education regarding respiratory care being provided and/or in preparation for discharge. Participate in quality improvement projects
