About The Position

The position is for a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Atrium Health Pineville, specifically within the Respiratory Therapy Services department. This full-time role involves working variable 12-hour day shifts and is eligible for a sign-on bonus. The therapist will demonstrate knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery, conduct therapeutic procedures, perform diagnostic procedures, and manage mechanical and non-invasive ventilators. The role requires independent evaluation of therapies, documentation of results, and communication with healthcare team members. The therapist will also be responsible for emergency respiratory care techniques and blood sampling analysis. Physical requirements include the ability to lift materials weighing 20-50 pounds and move patients of all age groups. The position demands proficiency in electronic medical records and adherence to safety guidelines.

Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards.
• 2 years critical care experience required for free-standing Emergency Department and Virtual Critical Care.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each.
• Conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and understands their purpose, benefits, and possible effects.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
• Evaluates current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols.
• Documents therapy and results as required by hospital, department, and regulatory agencies.
• Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Initiates, conducts, and modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.
• Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis.
• Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care.
• Completes all regulatory requirements and annual proficiency evaluations.
