The Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by evaluating the appropriateness of patient imaging examinations. This includes assessing indications and contraindications, reviewing lab data, and explaining the risks and benefits of procedures to patients. The RRA is responsible for obtaining informed consent and collaborating with referring physician offices to gather relevant patient history. Additionally, the RRA reviews imaging and facilitates the appropriate procedures as needed, ensuring that all actions are consistent with the protocols established for Radiologist Assistants. In this role, the RRA will perform both interventional and diagnostic procedures as delegated by the supervising physician, adhering to the competency and complexity guidelines outlined in the Radiologist Assistant protocols. Communication is key, as the RRA must relay preliminary findings to the radiologist for official interpretation. Furthermore, the RRA is tasked with case documentation and must communicate effectively with involved referring physicians both before and after exams or procedures. The RRA will also have a teaching component, assisting medical students, residents, and fellows who rotate through the department. This includes educating other healthcare professionals about patient management in Radiology. Leadership is an essential aspect of this position, as the RRA will work to resolve problems and enhance patient care within the assigned Division. Participation in research and quality improvement efforts is also expected, contributing to the overall advancement of the Division's practices. This position operates on a flexible schedule, working four days a week, rotating Monday through Friday.
