Job Summary: Location: Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital Address: 933 E Pierce St, Council Bluffs, IA Schedule: Conduct all aspects of sleep diagnostic testing. Responsibilities: Essential Functions 1. Positive relations when interacting with patients, visitors, families, physicians, customers, and coworkers. Greet, smiles and makes eye contact. Introduces self by name. Volunteers to help co-workers and other employees. Addresses patients and others by surname. Responds quickly to patients and/or other peoples' needs. Know and demonstrates 6 step customer complaint management process. 2. Gather and Analyze Patient Information. Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet patient specific needs (Physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedures, pertinent medical/social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols. Completes and verifies documentation. Explains pre-testing, testing, and post testing procedures to the patient. 3. Prepares and calibrates equipment for testing. Determine proper functioning and make adjustments, if necessary, to equipment. Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards. Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and make adjustments if necessary. Performs positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting. 4. Polysomnographic procedures. Follows procedural protocols such as MSLT, MWT, Parasomnia studies, positive Airway pressure, oxygen titration. Performs data acquisition while monitoring. Documents Routine observations including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure and significant events in order to facilitate scoring. 5. Polysomnographic record scoring. Scores sleep/wake stages according to guidelines. Scores clinical events according to protocols. Generates accurate reports for physician review. 6. Polysomnographic physician review. Facilitates communication to pulmonologists for interpretation. 7. Maintains supply inventory. Maintains supply orders as needed. Schedule: Casual- rotating dayshift and night shift as needed.
