About The Position

This Registered Pharmacy Technician position is for 40 hours per week on the evening shift. The role involves assisting in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other items using aseptic technique, requiring repetitive hand motions. Duties also include filling unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions, and maintaining inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB. The technician will deliver unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solutions, and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to nursing units, requiring walking and standing for the assigned shift. Other tasks include filling medication labels (subject to pharmacist check), preparing pre-packaged medications, assisting with inventory control, receiving and shelving supplies, performing cycle counts, reviewing stock for expired medications, and cleaning pharmacy equipment and work areas. Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to read, write and understand English at the 12th Grade level, follow orders, and written and illustrated instruction.
Ability to perform arithmetical computations (add, subtract, etc.).
Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam.
All requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
Must know basic IV admixture processes as well as sterile procedures.
Must have good math, computer and communication skills.
Must have clear understanding of medication names (brand and generic), common dosing and sig codes, and medical terminology.
PTCB certification within 2 testing cycles of starting job.
Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy as a Technician.
Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

Assists in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, and other, using aseptic technique.
Fills unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo & OB.
Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units.
Fills medication labels, subject to final check by a pharmacist.
Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications.
Receives and shelves supplies and medications.
Performs cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.
