About The Position

Exciting opportunity with Lee Health! We are now hiring Pharmacy Technicians for LPG Prior Authorization Center to assist pharmacist with submission of prior authorization requests to help facilitate medication approval through insurance. This will be done through communication with lee physician clinics and insurance companies. Technicians will manage work queues Monday through Friday, to ensure prior authorizations are submitted within the company policy and timeline. Submission of prior authorization will involve reviewing patients chart for disease states and labs associated with medication prescribed, drafting appeal letters, recommending covered alternatives, pending prescriptions for prescribers, and creating telephone encounters for documentation in patients charts. This position has limited direct patient contact and no dispensing or preparation of any medications. The goal of this department is to be a patient advocate to ensure medication approval in a timely manner to avoid any delay in patient treatment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Two years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with Florida Department of Health required.
  • CphT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) with national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
  • ExCPT certification may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Data entry and knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology required.
  • Ability to cope with confrontation.
