About The Position

Gramercy Surgery Center is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our state-of-the-art surgery center located in Manhattan. The ideal candidates will be responsible for both preoperative and postoperative functions, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety throughout the surgical process. This role involves direct patient interaction, meticulous documentation, and collaboration with surgical teams to facilitate efficient patient flow and recovery.

Requirements

  • Must be a New York Licensed RN.
  • Experience in Operating Room (OR), Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for surgery by verifying identity and scheduled procedures.
  • Provide preoperative instructions and ensure proper clinical documentation is in the patient's chart.
  • Conduct admission assessments and communicate abnormal values to the Anesthesiologist.
  • Admit and transfer patients to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Monitor post-operative patients closely, including taking vital signs and assessing their condition from admission to discharge.
  • Document patient conditions on PACU records accurately.
  • Provide post-operative instructions to patients prior to discharge.
  • Perform postoperative calls to patients after surgery and document their responses in the patient's record.
  • Conduct pre-operative calls to patients prior to the day of surgery.
  • Maintain crash cart inventory and maintenance logs.
  • Assist Scrub Technicians with opening supplies and surgical preparation.
  • Provide additional instruments and supplies as requested during operations.
  • Restock the unit as needed and maintain a clean and safe environment in the admitting and recovery areas.
  • Maintain various logs including refrigerator temperatures, crash cart, surgery, narcotics, and specimens.
  • Facilitate communication between front desk staff and O.R. staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and report any violations.
