About The Position

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for various roles within the Endoscopy Center, including admitting patients, assisting physicians during procedures, and monitoring patients in recovery. The nurse will also maintain emergency equipment, manage medication inventory, provide pre-procedure instructions, and participate in quality management projects. This position may require serving as Charge Nurse in the absence of the Administrator.

Requirements

• Current State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Previous experience in an admitting, procedure, or recovery role in an ambulatory setting, preferably in a GI setting.
• ACLS certification required; BCLS certification with willingness to become ACLS certified within specified time period.
• Pre-employment physical with additional testing to meet state and OSHA guidelines.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in nursing for at least 1 year (preferred).
• Experience in Endoscopy/OR for at least 1 year (preferred).
• Spanish language skills (preferred).
• BLS Certification (preferred).
• RN License (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Admitting patients and ensuring correct identity and procedure.
• Checking vital signs and conducting pre-procedure assessments.
• Inserting IV catheters and providing emotional support to patients.
• Documenting patient concerns and specific problems.
• Assisting in the procedure room by monitoring patients and documenting procedures accurately.
• Administering medications and utilizing safety measures during procedures.
• Following recovery room orders and documenting post-procedure progress.
• Communicating discharge instructions and arranging follow-up appointments.
• Logging tissue specimens and ensuring correct handling for pathology.
• Maintaining knowledge of various procedures and equipment used in the center.
