About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Rutland Nursing Home is responsible for providing direct patient care utilizing the nursing process. This role involves diagnosing and treating health problems, supervising nursing staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care based on established standards and practices. The RN will coordinate care plans, assess patient needs, and participate in quality improvement activities while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program(s).
  • Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York State.
  • Ability to fully utilize BHMC's electronic record systems and relevant healthcare systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in nursing preferred.
  • Some experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the immediate and continuing care needs of the patient/significant other.
  • Develop comprehensive and current plans of care which include physical needs, patient teaching, and discharge planning.
  • Provide direct patient care based on assessed needs and the medical regimen.
  • Oversee and ensure the provision of all aspects of care for the patient.
  • Supervise the care provided by other nursing personnel as defined in the scope of practice.
  • Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate the patient's response to illness and/or therapeutic modalities.
  • Coordinate the overall plan of care to ensure implementation of nursing interventions and consistency with medical regimen.
  • Establish priorities for care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assure the plan of care integrates age-specific care needs.
  • Accept responsibility and accountability for nursing interventions and outcomes.
  • Participate in QI activities related to patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and manage stressful situations appropriately.
  • Participate in the orientation of nursing staff.
  • Assume charge responsibilities as delegated by the Nurse/Manager designee.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage of all patients by assisting and relieving co-workers.
  • Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for student nurses.
  • Participate in meetings, committees, conferences, and educational programs.
  • Participate in research and pilot projects supported by the Nursing Department.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for continuing professional growth and education.
  • Participate in appropriate professional and community organizations.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
