The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for preparing the patient for surgery and providing post-operative care after surgery. Utilizes the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of patient care. Provides patient care, which may include administering medication, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice. Provides appropriate counsel and education to patient/family regarding surgical procedures, outcomes, preparation and follow-up. Maintains medical records requiring appropriate and timely recording of patient information. Consults with members of the health care team, adjusting nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Assists the health care provider with examinations, procedures, prescription refills, and other processes related to direct patient care. Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in education programs, staff meetings, and in-services such as CPR as required. Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with Company policies. Actively share ideas in a constructive and positive manner by listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others. Keep commitments and keep direct supervisor informed of work progress, timetables, and issues. Advocate and assist in maintaining a clean, neat, and cheerful environment where our patients feel comfortable. Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices). Prepares for upcoming surgical procedures and ensures the ASC has all necessary nursing supplies and equipment. Works closely with Anesthesia in assisting in screening and communicating clearances Goes through monthly outdates and medication recalls. Other duties as assigned by management.
