Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time night-shift Registered Nurse for our Center for Behavioral Medicine at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN. Be a Beacon. Make a Difference. Our full-service, 357-licensed-bed hospital has served the community for more than 100 years with a variety of services including: Emergency Department; radiology; orthopedics; maternity, pregnancy and childbirth; behavioral health; imaging and lab; genetic counseling; DaVinci robotic surgery. As part of Beacon Health System, patients have access to providers not only at this location but can also access resources and services from across the entire health system. As a Center for Behavioral Medicine Nurse, you'll report to the Manager of Patient Care Services and provide professional nursing services. You will assess the needs of patients and initiate, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. This role will collaborate with other professional, clinical, and ancillary staff in providing quality care to patients. You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment and techniques. As a Registered Nurse, your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians and others. You demonstrate the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner. Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
  • Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must have or obtain a BSN within five (5) years of employment as a Registered Nurse or will have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. The certification must be maintained based off accrediting body standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and effectively performs high-risk, high-frequency technical procedures in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, resource availability, patient preferences, and departmental needs.
  • Identify and respond to physical or emotional health risks, initiating appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Maintain accountability for personal and delegated decisions, using evidence-based practices, protocols, and organizational values.
  • Seek supervision or resources when needed to ensure safe and effective care; collaborate to resolve complex issues.
  • Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized care plans that reflect patient goals, preferences, and needs across physical, emotional, social, and spiritual domains.
  • Ensure continuity of care through appropriate interventions, modifying plans based on effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes within established guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to achieve positive outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient needs, staff roles, and competencies, while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
  • Support professional development of peers through role modeling, feedback, and precepting.
  • Advocate for patients and families to ensure appropriate care and outcomes.
  • Address conflicts constructively and participate in decision-making processes, demonstrating adaptability and support for change.
