About The Position

VASCULAR ACCESS TEAM: The Vascular Access Team (VAT) at West Penn Hospital are a specialized all RN team that service the patient population to make patient experience better, less painful and less stress full during their hospital stay. This specialty incorporates autonomous, collaborative, and advocacy for the patient regarding the appropriate vascular access device for our patients. The purpose through education and training to staff improve our patient outcomes. The VATS use advanced technology for PICC line insertions. The VAT are competent in ultrasound guided vascular access device insertions. Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Derives culturally and age appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family and other health care providers.
Analyzes the health status of the individuals and families comparing the data with the norm, when possible, to determine patient care needs.
Assesses patient reports/records change of condition and notifies physician and/or supervisor and intervenes appropriately and documents accordingly.
Accepts assignments in areas other than primary unit, and performs duties within individualized competency.
