About The Position

The Agency Nurse at NIA Association is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working in a supportive and person-centered environment, the Agency Nurse will assess health conditions, develop care plans, and administer treatments while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life for our service recipients

Requirements

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and document medical history for service recipients.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in coordination with the healthcare team and families.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and other prescribed medical interventions in accordance with policies and regulations if necessary
  • Maintain Medical charts and conduct telephonic and in-person coordination with Doctors, Nurses, other medical personnel and Service department.
  • The RN is also responsible for the distribution of medication, conducting blood glucose checks, blood pressure and other nursing requirements for individuals supported, per doctors’ orders.
  • Monitor and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, recognizing changes in health status and responding promptly.
  • Collaborate with residential staff, therapists, physicians, and families to ensure holistic care and support for service recipients.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including progress notes, medication administration logs, and incident reports.
  • Educate staff and service recipients on health-related matters such as nutrition, hygiene, and self-care techniques.
  • Participate in regular case reviews and contribute to the development of individualized service plans (ISPs).
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and best practices, including HIPAA and OSHA standards
  • Provide emergency first aid and triage care as needed.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate Medication Administration Classes and assist with ongoing training and support of direct care staff regarding health and medical care for service recipients.
